What to expect

Embarking on therapy can be a daunting prospect, so knowing what to expect can help to ease some nerves.

It is essential to keep in mind that therapy is not a magic pill or a quick fix: therapy is a healing process that necessitates participation and investment from both the patient and psychologist. Yet in the end, making small changes to self-defeating behaviour and coping with feelings of sadness, fear, and pain can bring life-changing results.

Initial phone consultation

I offer a free 15 minute initial phone consultation to discuss your thoughts on therapy and answer any questions.

If we decide that therapy may be helpful for you then we will schedule an assessment session.

Assessment session

The assessment session is used to gather information about you and your struggles, including some information about your past. It is helpful if we have a shared understanding of what is happening for you.

Assessments can also be used to discuss expectations of therapy,  set some aims for therapy and agree how we will work together.

Ongoing sessions

If we decide that therapy would be clinically helpful for you then we will agree to meet on the same day and time either weekly or fortnightly for a set time-period. Sessions last for 50 minutes, leaving 10 minutes for administration time.

I offer both online sessions and in-person sessions at my clinic in Surbiton, Greater London.
